I think I must have been about 10 years old, so 28 years ago now (!). Our school, Brough Primary School, teamed up with Ravenstonedale School. We travelled by mini bus to Sunbiggin Tarn, and as well as planting the trees (they are the trees that are on the right hand side of the tarn), we learnt about the nature that lived in and around the tarn, particularly the birds.
I had never been to the tarn before that, in fact trips out of school were quite rare in those days! I remember being very excited, and thrilled to meet/work with some of the children from Ravenstonedale School.
